About National Youth Service (NYS)
The National Youth Service (NYS) was founded by Kenya Government in 1964 as a tool to train youths on both technical and vocational skills and trades as well as building national programme.
Candidates accepted into the National Youth Service (NYS) are youths between the ages of 18 to 22 years. When selected to join, you will attend a mandatory non-combat paramilitary training for a minimum of six (6) months after which you will offer a national service in either Construction, Vector control, Slums upgrade program, Traffic control, Public security, Agriculture etc.

The ongoing National Youth Service recruitment seeks to employ
- Volunteer service men.
- Volunteer service women.
Interested candidates are to visit the nearest recruiting center in their sub-county. The National Youth Service recruitment will hold across Kenya Republic starting from Monday, 10th February 2025 to Saturday, 15th February 2025.
Requirements for NYS Recruitment 2025/2026
- Nationality: Applicant must be a Kenyan citizen with a valid National Identity Card or Passport and must be residing in the sub-county of recruitment.
- Approved Age: Only youths within the age of 18 to 24 years are allowed to apply.
- Education: A mean grade of D plain and above in Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) including English and Kiswahili languages is required.
- Documents: Original copy of National Identity Card, Academic certificates and one set of photocopies shall be required at NYS recruitment centers.
- Candidates applying must have certificate of Good conduct and other relevant clearance certificates from KRA, HELB, DCI etc.
- Applicant must be willing to undertake medical check during and after the recruitment exercise.
- Pregnant women are not permitted to apply due to the rigorous physical training.
- Candidate applying must be ready to give voluntary service to the nation in any part of Kenya assigned.
All shortlisted candidates shall go for the National Youth Service (NYSC) paramilitary course at the Paramilitary academy, Gilgil and NYSTTI, Naivasha according to schedule.
Orphan Kenyan citizens who have interest applying for NYS recruitment must provide parent’s death certificates or burial permits. Upon providing these documents, such candidates shall be shortlisted if qualify.
Individuals that are physically challenged are encouraged to apply at their sub-counties recruitment centers. Candidates who are skilful or talented in sports shall also be considered.
Canvassing with NYS application form or giving money in exchange of favouritism in the recruitment process is an offence which may lead to automatic disqualification.
